Details

The Treeline is built for long, still hours in the cold. Nine heat zones across your back, lower front and collar keep your core warm when you can't move to warm up, and a single quiet button cycles through three heat settings. Wear it over a base layer and under your jacket or camo shell.

CoreLoop™ heat mapping

When you get cold, your body protects your core first and cuts blood flow to your hands and feet. CoreLoop puts the heat where blood runs close to the surface: your collar, two panels on your lower front and six across your back. Warm blood carries that heat around the loop, which helps your fingers and toes stay warmer for longer. Add Belay gloves and Switchback socks to close the loop.

Why it works outside

  • Core heat for long sits. Stay in the stand or on the ice through the last hour of light.
  • Three settings. High to warm up fast, medium for steady hours, low to stretch the battery all morning.
  • Battery in the box. Ships with a rechargeable battery pack and charging cable.
  • Out of the way. The battery sits in an internal pocket, clear of a bow draw, a cast or a harness.

The science behind CoreLoop™

Brajkovic and Ducharme (2002) found that warming the torso kept fingers warm and nimble better than heating the hands directly, in 3-hour tests at −25°C (−13°F).

CoreLoop™ heat mapping is built on that idea. When you get cold, your body protects your core first and cuts blood flow to your hands and feet. Heat over the core lets warm blood keep reaching them. Add gloves and socks to close the loop at your hands and feet.

The 9 heat zones listed for the Treeline vest (collar; front core, left; front core, right; upper back, left; upper back, right; mid back, left; mid back, right; lower back, left; lower back, right) come from the factory heat-zone diagram for this exact product, so what we describe matches what you receive.

The study tested heated clothing in a lab, not this product. How warm you stay depends on your layers, how active you are and the weather. Related paper: Brajkovic, Ducharme and Frim (2001). How CoreLoop works.

Washing and care
Unplug the cable and take the battery out before washing.
Close all zips and pockets, then machine wash cold on a gentle cycle in a laundry bag, or hand wash.
Hang to dry. Never tumble dry, iron, wring or dry clean heated gear.
Make sure the garment is completely dry before you reconnect the battery.

Questions about the treeline vest

Is it quiet enough for hunting?

The heat control is a single soft-press button, and the battery sits in an internal pocket out of the way.

How long does the battery last?

As a guide, about 3 hours on high, 5 to 6 hours on medium and up to 8 to 10 hours on low. Keep a spare battery in an inside pocket for all-day sits.

Can I wear it under camo?

Yes. It's slim enough to wear under a hunting jacket or bibs.

Can I wash it?

Yes. Take the battery out, close the zips and machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then hang to dry.
